We are very sad to get the
news that long time peace and social change activist Don White has
died. Don was the coordinator of CISPES, the Coalition in
Solidarity with the People of El Salvador, and on the boards of
Office of the Americas and KPFK. For decades Don has been a fixture
in the movement for change in Los Angeles, there were few rallies
and protests, other movement events large and small that Don was not
a vital part of, always bringing his vibrant energy, his articulate
and heartfelt words, his practical suggestions and his wonderful
humor. It is hard to imagine Southern California without Don White!
It’s hard to think of anyone more dedicated to peace and social
change than Don. Among his many efforts, Don was one of the
organizers of and participants in the weekly fast and vigil for the
safe return of another much-loved activist Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine.
Don brought his creativity (our bold banner was an idea he proposed),
his commitment to justice for the Haitian people and his deep
compassion for Lovinsky and all those who are imprisoned or have
been disappeared. We pay tribute to Don and mourn his passing. |

This Thursday join the vigil, part of global
efforts calling for a safe return of Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine, as we
also pay tribute to Don White.
Our vigil will be smaller without Don, won’t you come out and join
us in saying Don White Presente!
And also help carry on Don’s work in support of the people of Haiti.
