International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network (IJAN) congratulates GWS on new Women's Centre

The International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network (IJAN) congratulates The Global Women’s Strike on the massive effort of creating an even larger and a more permanent space where people working on different grassroots movements can come together. By being a place where grassroots communities can take root and grow, it allows people to find each other and discover the commonalities of our struggles. As have so many grassroots movements, our struggle against Zionism has found a home at the Center and benefitted from the connections made possible through that home.

Through our work with the Global Women's Strike, stronger links have been built between struggles in Haiti and Palestine and those of political prisoners from Pelican Bay and Georgia to Palestine and Egypt. Our work has benefitted from the work and experience of Women of Color in the Strike, particularly from their challenge to other people and institutions of color who side with Israel against their Palestinian brothers and sisters. Pay Day's work with refusniks – Israeli soldiers who have refused to serve mandatory military duty – is a strength to the growing movement against the Israeli military.

These are only a few of the many examples of how the work of seemingly different grassroots efforts that operate out of the Center and the Strike strengthen one another. In this way, the Center is a place where we can learn in new ways how the world we are working to create is a world in which "in an injury to one is an injury to all" and therefore in which the victories of any of our movements against exploitation and oppression is a victory to us all.

To many years of joint struggle, building power and winning victories.

With love and in common struggle.

All are welcome to the open day at the new Crossroads Women's Centre. See details here.
