Domestic workers join the Mothers March
Lima, Peru
The domestic workers union SINTTRAHOL marked the Mothers March with a public meeting on Sunday 6 March. About 50 domestic workers and 50 other mothers and their children met in the trade union school of the CGTP, the federation to which SINTTRAHOL is affiliated.

El Sindicato de Trabajadoras y Trabajadores del Hogar (SINTTRAHOL) de la región de Lima realizó un acto de conmemoración el domingo 6 de Marzo. Aproximadamente 50 trabajadoras del hogar y otras 50 madres y niñ@s se reunieron en el Auditorio de la Escuela Sindical de la CGTP, la federación a la cual está afiliado el SINTTRAHOL.

THERE are 700,000 domestic workers in Peru. Ninety per cent of them are indigenous women who have migrated from the countryside to the cities in order to escape poverty. Many are underage and illiterate, denied access to even basic education. It is little wonder that the situation they find themselves in once they have secured employment is little better than slavery.

Londres (Peru . com) . - (EFE) . - La secretaria general del Sinttrahol (sindicato de los trabajadores del hogar de ambos sexos de la región de Lima), Leddy Mozombite, explicó a Efe que se ha reunido en Londres con organizaciones de trabajadoras inmigrantes de América Latina, África y Asia para coordinar campañas a nivel internacional .
