Utility Workers Union of America message to GWS & Every Mother is a Working Mother Coalition on the Occasion of IWD 2013

Greeting from the 50,000 women and men of the Utility Workers Union of America! We send special greetings to our sister Margaret Prescod who has spoken on several occasions on UWUA platforms and has been a long time supporter of the struggles of working families including on her radio show Sojourner Truth where she has lived up to her show’s name.

Over 150 women and men attended International Women’s Day at the Crossroads Women’s Centre on Saturday 9 March. Called by Global Women’s Strike, Women of Colour in the GWS and Caribbean Labour Solidarity, the day focused on the obstacles women face, and what can be won organising together. While the 1% gets wealthier, the 99% struggle against war, deprivation, exploitation, economic and environmental devastation.
