In 2016 – Free Chelsea Manning

If Chelsea’s sentence stands, she won’t be out until 2045. We cannot allow this. We have to get her out

Trans woman whistleblower Chelsea Manning’s supporters from LGBTQ, women’s, anti-war, anti-racist, anti-zionist, whistleblowers’ and other movements for change celebrated her 28th birthday at 16 locations in seven countries (that we know of), calling for her release.

Chelsea Manning is the US soldier who exposed the truth about US, UK and other governments’ war crimes and corruption in Afghanistan, Haiti, Iraq, Israel & the Palestinian Authority, Peru, Venezuela . . .  She was sentenced in August 2013 to 35 years’ imprisonment.  If the sentence stands, she won’t be out until 2045.  We cannot allow this; we have to get her out.

Supporters’ actions were also for Julian Assange, Eileen Chubb, Edward Snowden, the Dallas 6, the Drones Whistleblowers – in fact of all whistleblowers who are persecuted for telling the truth about murder and war crimes, rape, torture, neglect, underfunding, starvation wages, corruption . . .  in the military, prison, detention centres, police, hospitals, care homes, and every institution.

Chelsea wrote this moving piece for the Guardian newspaper on Christmas Eve: “In prison, the holiday season is grim – but I won’t lose hope”

This year Chelsea will have her appeal. It’s also President Obama’s last year in office when he has the opportunity to grant Chelsea pardon. In 2016, LET’S FREE Chelsea Manning!
